The Big Finish (Jun 7 - Jul 19) PDF Print E-mail

This series will conclude our year in Deuteronomy by reiterating many of the key teachings that lead to the end of Moses’ life and the people of God moving into the Promised Land.

June 7 First fruits giving (Deut. 26:1-15)
This sermon will review some of the rules that Moses gave the people on giving back to God of their possessions and prosperity. We will examine these standards to learn how God intends his people today to give of their first fruits.

June 14 Curses (Deut. 27, 28)
Chapter 27 is a review of the curses that are contained in the laws of God. It is important for us to learn what makes the God of the universe declare a curse so that we can avoid these sinful practices in our own lives.

June 21 Blesses (Deut. 28)
The first part of chapter 28 gives a series of blessings that God promises for those who follow him. Again we can learn what things God will bless in our lives by looking at what brings blessing from the Lord.

June 28 “Why?” /Secret things (Deut. 29:22-29)
Moses envisions a time when people will ask why God did what he did to his people. The answer is that they did not obey his commands. In the final verse of this chapter we find him saying in essence that we can’t know all the secret things of God, but we can obey what has been revealed and that is what we are called to do.

July 5 The offer (Deut. 30:11-16)
This powerful Scripture is Moses’ plea to accept what he is setting before them. He is begging them to choose life by being obedient to the one true God. To disobey will mean only death and destruction. The offer made years ago by Moses is still made by a Savior who says, “choose me and live”.

July 12 Life Song (Deut. 32)
At the end of his life Moses wrote (and maybe sang) a song that he required all of Israel to learn and sing. It is a recounting of God’s faithfulness in his life. If you were to write a song about your life, what would the words be?

July 19 Death of the righteous (Deut. 34)
The legacy, law and life of Moses - This final sermon takes us to the death of one of God’s greatest servants. In this teaching we will be challenged to live a life that follows the laws of God and leaves a legacy. This is the example of Moses and the call of God on our lives.
