The book of Deuteronomy was written near the end of Moses’ life as a kind of reminder of where the people of God had been.  He recounted their history and their legacy and encouraged them to move forward to ensure that his legacy of leadership remained long after his death.  We will look at the legacy of the people of God in the wilderness to help us establish our legacy in the church.

July 6 - Visionary Legacy (Deut. 1:38)

In this opening passage Moses says that their legacy is not going to be in this desert and in this mountain.  He tells them to move forward into the land of promise – their destiny through God.

July 13 - Leadership Legacy (Deut. 1:1-18)

In order for the people of God to fulfill God’s purpose in them, they would need great leadership.  This sermon will focus on the importance of leadership for God’s people.

July 20 - Legacy of Fear (Deut. 1:19-33)

In this teaching, Moses recounts for the Hebrew people why they spent so much time in the desert…they were afraid of the enemy.  We will look at breaking free from our fears and the legacy that sometimes that leaves.

July 27 - Legacy of Self Reliance (Deut. 1:34-46)

This teaching also points to a negative legacy as Moses reminds them that every time they fought in their own strength and reliance they were defeated.  We will be encouraged to live in God’s strength and not our own.

August 3 - Fighting Legacy (Deut. 2:1-24)

Part of the journey would require battling those already in the land.  In this teaching we will find out about how the people of God war.  We will define enemies we should and shouldn’t have.

August 10 - Victorious Legacy (Deut. 2:26-3:22 / key verse 3:22)

This legacy series will conclude by celebrating the victory that is ours in Christ.  No matter what the   battle or who the foe, we have a God who fights for us and we will win the battle.
